Ambassadors Club

The Ambassadors Club met for the first time in 2023…

Hampton Court Palace Golf Club provided an idyllic backdrop for Get Golfing’s very first Ambassadors meeting. The Get Golfing Ambassador is a new initiative, and the day was all about getting ambassadors together and starting a conversation.

The role of the ambassador is to act as a conduit between Get Golfing and the respective Clubs under the Get Golfing Umbrella. There is no pre-requisite to being chosen and it is entirely at the discretion of Get Golfing’s site and group management. In general, the ambassadors are invited due to their positive attitude and engagement with Get Golfing as their respective club has progressed under Get Golfing. It is our hope that this direct link into the clubs will encourage more collaboration amongst the membership and assist the captains and the management at each club.

Our latest meeting was a great success with seventeen ambassadors in attendance from as far as Warley Park in Brentwood to Ansty in Coventry. The day began with a coffee reception and a meet and greet followed by a light bite in the Lakewood Suite. Edward Richardson, CEO of Get Golfing kicked off the day with an exciting update, informing the group of our latest acquisition of Winter Hill Golf Club in Maidenhead. Winter Hill (a John Lewis owned club) had been up for sale for a while and was threatened to be taken over by local golf club, Maidenhead. Maidenhead GC’s land had been sold for development with planning permission agreed for fifteen hundred houses to be built on the site of the golf course. The news has been extremely well received by the membership at Winter Hill.

Yvonne, part of Get Golfing’s Community Outreach team, then took charge to run us through an introduction to the community team and the various initiatives running at each club, with the aim of encouraging wider participation. This included Monday’s ‘Nine and Wine’ at The Club at Mill Green, and updates on our unique Junior Pro-Am Series. Ambassadors were then brought up to speed with the progress on our Free School Meals campaign through an impassioned talk from Community Officer, Stuart Williams. This programme is now well established at our sites and the goal is to deliver 4,000 hot meals to thew children that need them most throughout 2023

Our complimentary skills sessions have launched for the season, in which Get Golfing offer an hour’s free tuition to our members from a PGA Professional. It’s our hope that these will encompass junior sessions and Ladies sessions.

The team were then invited for a short break and got to know new faces before we opened a Q&A session where we discussed concerns from each club’s respective membership.

We were then treated to a delicious brunch courtesy of Ela and the kitchen and bar staff before heading out to enjoy the golf course in 4 ball better ball competition. The winning team comprised of Steven Bowen, Gold Sales Manager at North Downs alongside Helen Webster, from Hampton Court, Dave Handley from Warley Park, and Kevin Burroughs from Redlibbets with a winning score of 86 points.  Congratulations to all who took part and thank you for attending. We’re already planning our next meet, perhaps at Winter Hill.

The initiatives listed above are financially supported by Get Golfing and the hope was to impress upon our ambassadors that this cannot happen and flourish without the dedicated support and goodwill of each club’s membership and the financial success and development of Get Golfing.
