Juniors and professionals alike hail outstanding Pro-Am’s
Throughout August, Get Golfing CIO have hosted hugely successful Junior Pro-Am events at six of their sites (The Club at Mill Green, Warley Park, Pyrford Lakes, Sherfield Oaks, Redlibbets and Hampton Court Palace). Professionals from local areas combined with three juniors to form teams competing for the title at each event, with prizes for those teams’ finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd, in combination with an individual competition between the professionals playing on the day.
Junior golf is integral at Get Golfing clubs, with juniors receiving free membership to encourage
participation in the game from a young age. Growing the game is one of Get Golfing’s core tenets, and
the encouragement of juniors to take up and enjoy the game is critical to the safeguarding of golf’s
future. With 50 juniors competing in each Pro-Am, some who had never played a full 18 holes before,
they were given the invaluable opportunity to learn from professionals directly on the golf course.
Pro-Am organiser, Yvonne Brooke, said of the events “Get Golfing’s Junior Pro-Am’s have proved hugely successful in their inaugural year. The feedback from the pro’s, parents and especially the juniors themselves has been hugely encouraging, with many saying they had never played in an event like it before. After such an exciting few days of competition, we look forward to growing these events even further next year, and continuing our ambition to grow the game further!”
