March 2026 — The Club at Mill Green, operated by the charitable organisation Get Golfing CIO, has been named Club of the Year at the England Golf Awards, recognising its outstanding commitment to growing the game while delivering meaningful impact within the local community.
The England Golf Awards celebrate individuals and organisations who are making a positive difference to the sport across the country. Mill Green was recognised for its innovative approach to accessibility, community engagement and sustainable club development.
A Modern Model for Golf and Community
Since joining Get Golfing CIO in 2020, The Club at Mill Green has redefined what a contemporary golf venue can be—combining strong commercial performance with a clear community purpose.
A core priority has been removing barriers to participation. Graduated membership options, no joining or bar levy fees, a relaxed dress code and free memberships for under 18s ensure that golf at Mill Green is accessible, affordable and welcoming.
Profits generated by the club are reinvested directly into community initiatives. These include providing free school meals during holidays, offering complimentary access to facilities for charities, schools and community groups, and developing partnerships with organisations such as Isabel Hospice, helping create inclusive spaces that support wellbeing and social connection.
Significant investment in the course and clubhouse has enhanced the experience for members and visitors alike. A vibrant competitions and events calendar with innovative formats encourages new players to take part, while the creation of a junior section and academy ensures young people can access the game regardless of background.
The introduction of a new Advisory Board has also strengthened long-term planning for the venue, helping ensure Mill Green continues to grow as both a successful golf club and an important community hub.
Part of the Get Golfing Mission
Mill Green is one of 13 golf and community venues operated by Get Golfing CIO, a UK charity dedicated to improving lives through golf.
Get Golfing’s vision is to create welcoming spaces where every person feels valued, connected and inspired to thrive. The organisation’s strategy focuses on five key priorities: Great People, Great Courses, Great Clubhouses, Great Charity and a Great Brand, supported by strong foundations in technology, sales and marketing, partnerships and investment.
At the heart of the charity are its CARE values — Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Enjoyment — which guide how teams work together, how communities are welcomed into the game and how each venue operates.
These values are reflected in the way clubs such as Mill Green bring people together, encourage participation and ensure that golf is enjoyed by players of all ages and abilities.
Looking Ahead
The recognition of Mill Green as England Golf’s Club of the Year marks an important milestone for both the venue and the wider Get Golfing organisation.
Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond, Get Golfing plans to continue investing in its venues, expanding participation programmes and strengthening partnerships that allow golf facilities to act as vibrant community hubs.
By combining great people, outstanding facilities and a strong charitable purpose, Get Golfing aims to ensure its clubs continue to grow the game while making a meaningful difference in the communities they serve.
