Changing Lives Through Golf: Supporting the Emmaus Community at Ansty Golf Club

On 10 September 2026, the Get Golfing Charities team at Ansty Golf Club welcomed six individuals from the Emmaus community for a Discover Golf session, led by Golf Professional Adam Mason and supported by Charity Officer Krissie Mistry.

The session combined fun, friendly competition and skill-building, with putting and chipping games followed by target practice on the driving range. Whether beginners or returning golfers, everyone had the opportunity to get active, build confidence and enjoy a little healthy competition!

At Get Golfing, we believe golf should be accessible to everyone. Through Discover Golf, we aim to break down the financial and social barriers to participation while creating opportunities to improve physical and mental wellbeing. For individuals experiencing homelessness, activities like these can help reduce isolation, relieve stress and build meaningful social connections in a supportive environment.

Supporting men’s mental health is an important part of this work. Research suggests that men can find it difficult to discuss their emotions and mental health, and that some may feel more comfortable opening up through shared activities and informal social settings. We believe Discover Golf can provide that opportunity: a relaxed, welcoming space where individuals can connect with others, enjoy being active and feel comfortable talking about life’s challenges.

Our collaboration with Emmaus reflects our shared commitment to supporting people through challenging circumstances. By bringing people together through golf, we hope to create a welcoming space where individuals can develop new skills, reconnect with their interests and feel part of a community.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at Ansty, and to the Emmaus team for the vital work they do to support people experiencing homelessness. We look forward to building on this partnership and welcoming the group back for future sessions.
